MY Top Five NYC Christmas Films

I love Christmas Movies!
They are probably the only films that I can watch over and over again and never get sick of. My current favorites that take place in NYC are as follows:

5. Elf
Will Ferrell and (an almost unrecognizable) blonde Zooey Deschanel star in this hilarious comedy where an over-sized elf is sent to New York from the North Pole so that he can discover his true identity and of course save Christmas.

4. Miracle on 34th Street
The 1947 classic that got all New Yorkers to believe in Santa again!
Young Natalie Wood is absolutely adorable in this one!

3.  Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
One year after Kevin was left home alone on Christmas, he accidentally winds up in New York City, and again has to protect himself from the same two burglars who just happen to find themselves in New York as well. This sequel maybe better than the original!

2. It Happened on 5th Avenue

A homeless New Yorker moves into an empty mansion and invites his friends who are also down on their luck during the holidays to move in with him. When the actual owners daughter runs away to what she thinks is an empty mansion only to discover it is being inhabited by strangers, for some reason she plays along with them and wackiness ensues. This movie I recently discovered and was shocked to find out it came out in 1947 the same year as Miracle on 34th street. Some definite socialist politics involved in this one, which I'm sure were pretty risque for the time.
Definitely an interesting holiday film to watch!
P.S. I totally want her dress.

1. 12 Dates of Christmas

Now I usually hate Groundhog Day type stories where the protagonist is forced to relive the same day over and over again, but I can't help but love this romantic comedy where Kate (Amy Smart) is forced to relive Christmas Eve until she gets it right.  She starts off a little Christmas Grinch and ends up helping everyone she knows enjoy Christmas to the fullest.  LOVE IT!!
I wish ABC Family would put it on DVD!!
Its just so adorable. And Miles (Mark Paul Gosselaar) is my favorite Park-itect (park architect).
