I may have a problem.... A Paint By Number Problem

This weekend while visiting my friends in Bethlehem, PA we went to a few antique malls to scope out the treasures.  I love roaming flea markets (check out my trip to Brooklyn Flea), thrift stores and antique shops.  I always prefer to own something that has its own story and past. Not only does it make the item more interesting to me, but usually you can get a higher quality good second hand as compared with the things you can buy new now.  I also love the design aesthetic of decades past.
As I shared before I love Paint By Number paintings. Just something so kitschy and cozy about them.  This weekend I found two at an antique store (and they were cheap!) so I grabbed them both! Thankfully I still have quite a bit of wall space in need of décor.

I was so excited to find one of the sea. Growing up on the Jersey Shore (its nothing like the TV show) I will always long for the ocean no matter where I live.
My second find was this mountain scene.
It makes me think of my trip to Yosemite National Park.
Love adding to my mountain range. I would love to find a few more.

Do you have any crazy collections?

  1. Aw I really like them! Totally understandable. I used to collect a lot more, but since I've been moving about a lot it's hard to lug things with me! xx

    1. Jasmin,
Moving has definitely cut back on my collecting habits. We have moved 4 times in the past 6 years. I can totally understand and I admire people who can live the minimalist lifestyle, especially if one moves around a lot. Moving is such a pain, so much easier when you have less stuff that is for sure. Thank you so much for your comment! ~megan

  2. This is such a funny and great thing to collect. I love kitschy art myself. I just to have a thing about just collecting kitschy art in general from flea markets but at the moment, I cannot say that I am collecting anything specific.

    1. Thank you Holly! I would love to paint one as well one day. Right now I just buy the work of other artists. Most of them I assume are from the 60s but I have no idea when they are from. One seems to be dated 1943 which is pretty neat. ~megan
